PROPAGANDA SCORE:
- "They [NATO - ed.] are carrying out military missions against our country! They must be destroyed!"
- "Don't they [NATO - ed.] is targeting enemy drones? Alas, this will lead to a direct confrontation with NATO! Now how do we confront them?! Indirectly?! If we're gonna fight, let's really fight!"
- "Pskov is next to the NATO border. From where they were launched [drones - ed.]? Ukraine? Yeah! From the Baltic States?! Then destroy the Baltics! Wipe them off the face of the earth!"
- "If the attack was launched from the territory of a NATO state then that is a declaration of war against Russia! And that means that nuclear weapons should be used immediately in response."
NARRATIVES:
- By supporting Ukraine, NATO is directly provoking the Russian Federation to war.
- Russia has arguments to use nuclear weapons against NATO states.
ABOUT NARRATIVE:
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that on Wednesday morning, August 30, there was a drone attack which targeted six Russian regions, apparently the largest such incident recorded on Russian territory since the beginning of the conflict. The targets of the attack included an airport in the western part of the Pskov region, on the border with Estonia, as well as the Moscow, Oriol, Bryansk, Ryazan and Kaluga regions.
According to information from Russian sources, about ten drones carried out an attack on Pskov airport, which is about 50 kilometres from Estonia. This resulted in a major fire at the airport and damage to four Il-78 transport aircraft. As a result of the attack, all airports in the Moscow area were temporarily closed.
NATO is also not directly provoking the Russian Federation to war by supporting Ukraine. The North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) is a collective defence organisation made up of member states working together to protect their territories and citizens in the event of aggression. Support for Ukraine consists of providing political and economic assistance, including humanitarian assistance, in the face of the conflict with Russia.
NATO has encouraged dialogue and peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, and any accusation that it is provoking a war is incorrect. It operates on the principles of collective defence and stability, maintaining an open dialogue with all states, including Russia. This obsession that Russia has arguments for using nuclear weapons against NATO states is completely unfounded. The use of nuclear weapons is an extreme act that would have devastating consequences for everyone, including Russia.
In conclusion, these claims are misinformation that do not reflect reality and need to be carefully evaluated.
