Appeal of the Embassy of Ukraine in Romania

Russia continues to terrorise the peaceful Ukrainian population and attack Ukraine's civilian infrastructure. In particular, on the night of 16 August, Russian occupation troops again attacked the Odessa region, targeting the infrastructure of the Danube ports. As a result of enemy strikes, seven people were injured, warehouses and grain silos were damaged.

It once again confirms the Russian aggressor's cynical abuse of international humanitarian law, its desire to undermine global food security by jeopardising the supply of Ukrainian agricultural products to those in need.

It is with regret that today we are seeing videos on social media and in some media outlets of drones hitting port infrastructure and the functioning of Ukrainian air defence systems. Under the current conditions of Russian aggression, such videos pose a threat not only to the safe operation of Danube ports, but also directly to the civilian population living in the region.

The Russian attacker actively monitors the Internet and, receiving additional information, adjusts his attacks.

We call on everyone not to film and disseminate such videos on social media and in the media, so as not to increase the threat to the lives of people working and living in the Danube towns.
