Nicolae Țîbrigan, Coordinator of the Digital Forensic Team, Hosts the “Zoom on Fake” Segment on RFI Romania

Starting September 7, 2026, Nicolae Țîbrigan, coordinator of the Digital Forensic Team and an expert in combating disinformation, will join the RFI Romania team. He will host the segment “Focus on the Fake", included in the show's new format FOCUS MOLDOVA.

RFI Romania is expanding its program dedicated to the Republic of Moldova and relaunching it under the name “Focus Moldova.” The new format features a variety of segments, contributors, and analyses on political, social, and economic developments on both sides of the Prut River.

The program remains committed to its mission of building bridges of information between Romania and the Republic of Moldova and will continue to provide the public with news, interviews, reports, and in-depth analysis.

Disinformation, explained in simple terms

The new format places a strong emphasis on combating disinformation and debunking false narratives circulating in the information space in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

In the “Zoom on Fake” column, Nicolae Țîbrigan analyzes false or misleading claims and explains, in accessible language, where they come from, how they are spread, and what manipulation techniques they use.

Each edition examines the mechanisms through which a narrative seeks to capture the public’s attention, provoke fear, anger, or distrust, and influence how events are perceived. The claims analyzed are compared with facts, verifiable sources, and the context omitted from manipulative messages.

The column isn’t limited to exposing the false nature of a piece of information. “Zoom on Fake” also aims to show why certain messages may seem credible, how they are tailored to different audiences, and through which channels they end up being widely distributed.

DFT's expertise, bringing It closer to the public

The new partnership with RFI Romania contributes to the mission Digital Forensic Team’s mission to support the development of information resilience and critical thinking.

The DFT team’s experience in monitoring propaganda, analyzing influence operations, and investigating manipulation campaigns is presented in a concise, clear, and useful format for the general public.

Through “Zoom on Fake,” listeners will receive practical guidelines for evaluating information they encounter in the media and on digital platforms: verifying the source, identifying the context, recognizing appeals to emotion, and comparing a claim with available data.
