Freedom House Romania and Embassy of Germany in Romania invites you to the debate "Breaking Fake News. Confronting misinformation and propaganda", which will take place on November 1, 2023, from 14.00, at the Goethe Institute in Bucharest.
The first hours of a conflict or an important event in the life of a society are the most difficult for a journalist.
An avalanche of information, photos and videos begins, and the journalist must quickly discern which are true and which are false or misleading.
The battle for breaking news complicates the situation: you want to be first, but more importantly, if you respect yourself and your readers/viewers, you want to be the first to get the facts right.
How do we protect ourselves from misinformation, disinformation and manipulation?
Our seminar proposes this approach: to learn how to quickly "get a grip" on what is real and what is fake when it comes to reporting news about ongoing events.
To do this, we need to be "up to date" with the latest propaganda, disinformation and manipulation.
